We celebrated International Women's Day this year by shining a spotlight on just some of the incredible women that make up our team at Pier Health Group. Click on their names below to watch their videos!
Our CEO Brandie Deignan explains why this year’s #IWD, with a focus on #ChooseToChallenge, is even more important.
“This pandemic has revealed the gross inequalities we have within our society and certainly around the world. We’ve all seen, heard, read, the challenges that women are facing because of this pandemic.”
Dr Holly Paris
Dr. Holly Paris is the lead for frailty for Pier Health Group. Holly tells us what #IWD2021 means for women in the care sector.
“Why is it that society has such little regard or has demoted care work? It makes me wonder whether it’s traditionally because it’s been seen as women’s work.
On International Women’s Day, I’d like to champion women in care, make it higher profile and give the women who care a voice.”
Livi is a practice manager at one of our GP practices. Livi reflects on how life might have been very different for her if she lived in the past, just because she is a woman.
“International Women’s Day is all about celebrating the achievements of women. I’m proud to be a woman, proud to work in a practice dominated by women and to be part of a movement that empowers and builds women up.”
Manisha is the nurse lead for her GP practice within the Pier Health Group and explains why we need to take a moment to #ChooseToChallenge in celebration of International Women’s Day 2021.
“I choose to challenge our nurses to become leaders. I too agree that nurses make great leaders and great leaders inspire action.”
Marion is the lead nurse for Pier Health Primary Care Network Group and is also a Queen’s nurse.
“International Women’s Day is a great thing for me. The suffragettes fought for people like me to have a career, bring up a family and not be frowned upon. They fought for people like me to have a vote and have a say on what goes on in my life and what goes on in the world around me.”
Dr Steph Marshall
Dr. Steph Marshall is a GP, GP partner, GP trainer and a non-executive director of Pier Health Group Super Partnership. Steph reflects on her many roles as a woman and what #IWD2021 means to her.
“Qualities such as courage, compassion, integrity, and resilience are not determined by our chromosomes. My plan is to take any opportunity that comes my way, and then create some more.”
