Modern Slavery Statement

Our organisation and structure

Pier Health Group is a group of general practices within North Somerset, specifically in Weston Super Mare and surrounding village areas. Providing patients with outstanding healthcare care has always been a top priority for all our GP practices. Our mission is to make sure we continue serving local communities in the best possible way.

Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking

Our dedication to addressing modern slavery spans across all aspects of our operations and partnership networks. By issuing an Anti-slavery statement, we reinforce our commitment to combatting modern slavery and guarantee that our actions are coordinated and suitable across our entire business.

We also have appropriate policies in place that underpin our commitment to ensure that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. We continuously review and update all our policies. Our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to our staff.

Due Diligence

Pier Health has taken measures to diligently understand and address the risks of modern slavery within our operations. These measures include:

  • Establishing comprehensive procedures for whistleblowing, grievance, disciplinary actions, and bullying and harassment policies to ensure both our staff and patients are assured that modern slavery concerns will be addressed appropriately.
  • Conducting training for our teams to increase their awareness of modern slavery so that they can identify signs of it and raise complaints within the organisation.
  • Avoiding inappropriate employment practices by adhering to our Illegal Working Prevention, DBS, and Recruitment policies. We ensure that identity checks, DBS, qualifications, and references are in place.
  • Continuously developing our safeguarding policies.
